Chinmaya Study Groups & Devi Groups
The study of the scriptures is like looking into a mirror. Only when we become aware of and accept the imperfections in us that we can be motivated to transform ourselves and strive for perfection. Therefore the study of scriptures and reflection on the teachings is very important. When we study and reflect as a group it helps us maintain regularity and provides a platform where we can share our experiences while practicing the knowledge and find solutions through open discussions.
For Study Group members to grow progressively, the Chinmaya Mission has a systematic scheme of study, which the group follows. A Chinmaya study group is a group people who meet regularly (at least once a week) at a location convenient to all and discuss one of the textbooks of Vedanta. Each study group has a sevak or sevika, who facilitates the discussion among members of the study group and assist members in their study.
Although the Study Groups in general are open for all men and women, the alll women’s study groups are called Devi Groups which are conducted mainly at timings convenient to ladies. Each member in a study group or devi group studies and participates actively in the discussion in the group.
