‘Learn Sanskrit Joyfully’ workshop By Swami Ramakrishnananda ji

The 5-day crash course ‘Learn Sanskrit Joyfully’ infused in all the participantsa love for the language of the Deva’s.Swamiji, comprehensively dealt with the subject in a manner that the entire group of 36 participants, comprising of children, youth, adults, senior citizens and even octogenarians, found sustained interest.

On the first day participants were curious, apprehensive, skeptical, hesitant, and unsure  but at the end of the first session, the pendulum had decisively swung – everyone walked out of the class smiling and confident of being able to learn the language and using  it  to enhance their spiritual Sadhana. Swamiji’s teaching methodology made it simple and easy for partipants to grasp and attain proficiency. Swamiji’s sense of humour lightened concepts and people truly experienced the joy of learning. We are grateful to him for enabling us to proudly connect to our civilizational language.

For me personally there were multiple takeaways- I learnt the basics of the Sanskrit language of course, but besides that as a teacher educator I liked Swamiji’s pedagogical approach of teaching for understanding as opposed to rote learning, with which I identified immediately. Sanskrit a language that always seemed so difficult but SwamyJi simplified it so well and in 5 days -i can at least read Sholakas. Swamyji is blessed by Gurudev as he can explain the most difficult subject with his anecdotes so easily and well.

As i never studied Sanskrit as a subject in school, i found it little difficult to understand certain Sanskrit words while attending our study classes. This was good opportunity to learn some basics of Vedbhasha. And Swamiji made it all the more interesting by his unique teaching style.
